Job Summary

Must be self-directed with a high level of accountability and minimal supervision. Primary role is adjusting and maintaining staff work schedules. Included in this role: utilizes department staffing policy for decision making in scheduling appropriate levels of patient/resident care providers to meet needs of facility; utilizes time off/leave requests to ensure vacant positions are filled to meet requirements; negotiates staffing needs with leaders and/or directors; anticipates immediate and future staffing needs and works proactively to resolve staffing problems (i.e. broadcast to staff, utilize PRN staff, or reallocate existing staff). Will be expected to track, document, and report staffing data to directors for analysis. Must have strong inter-personal communication and negotiation skills to work with employees, leaders, and department directors to plan, organize and implement a sustainable staffing strategy. Must be a well-organized, critical thinker with leadership skills, a problem solving mind-set and ability to think “outside the box”. Must have a high degree of self-motivation and outstanding time management skills, with an ability to work independently and be flexible when needed to adjust schedules. Must use computer applications for email, scheduling (On-Shift), excel, and payroll. Must be able to work with multiple interruptions, under stress, and with large interactive groups all wanting scheduling requests. Must participate in department on-call rotation. May assist in candidate screening and interviewing processes as well as department onboarding and training. Must be a licensed nurse with an active license in good standing with the Governing Body, with minimum of one year staffing/scheduling experience within a healthcare setting


Post secondary education or equivalent training in a health care or business related field is required. Associates degree preferred.

Previous experience working with people or staffing issues desirable.
